PURPOSE: To encourage, stimulate, and maintain scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.

ELIGIBILITY: For active student membership, undergraduate students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university that has a Psi Chi chapter in good standing and must have completed 9 semester hours or 14 quarter hours of psychology and at least 3 semesters or 5 quarters of the college course. He or she must be registered for major or minor standing in psychology or for a program psychological in nature which is equivalent to such standing. Undergraduate students must rank not lower than the highest thirty-five percent of their (entire university) class in general scholarship and have a minimum overall GPA and a psychology GPA of 3.0; graduate students must have at least an average grade of B in all graduate courses. All must have high standards of personal behavior and the vote of two-thirds of those present at a regular meeting of the chapter.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES: The Society holds annual national conventions and six annual regional conventions that feature student paper and poster sessions, distinguished lecturers, and a variety of symposia and workshops; sponsors twenty-four award and grant programs that include undergraduate and graduate research awards, undergraduate and faculty advisor research grants, summer research opportunities, chapter and advisor awards, conference grants, and website awards; publishes the quarterly magazine Eye on Psi Chi and the quarterly Psi Chi Journal of Undergraduate Research; administers a comprehensive website that offers national society news, publications and forms, member and chapter information, new member registration, and a merchandise store; and sponsors national service projects. Self-governing local chapters, operating under the auspices of the International Society, sponsor a variety of programs that promote research, educational enrichment, career advancement and planning, service to others, and social interaction. The Board of Directors meets twice a year.
