Scholarships: Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to members of Lambda Iota Tau who demonstrate the writing of high quality literature (short stories, novels, essays, poems) or the writing of high quality research about literature. Each chapter sponsor nominates one person from his or her chapter. In addition to the sponsor’s nominating letter, the candidate writes an essay of 1,000 words or less on career goals and objectives, and provides a sample piece of writing. The scholarship committee evaluates the candidates on the basis of the writing sample, scholarship, leadership, and character, as well as service. No consideration is given to age, race, creed, sex, sexual orientation, or national citizenship. Lambda Iota Tau (LIT) grants two or more $1000 scholarships to LIT members who will be in good standing during each academic year.
