During the last fiscal year, Beta Kappa Chi Honor Society experienced an approximate 9% decrease in enrollment possibly due to changes in the economy and competition with other honor societies. This decline was apparent as well by the decreased number of medallions and subscriptions sold. At the national meeting, BKX Advisors and Sponsors decided to approach the increase in membership numbers more agressively for the upcoming year. Suggestions included partnering initiation ceremonies with other organizations that had similar objectives as well as soliciting university wide mailing lists of qualified students from the registrar's office. - bkc

* With marketing remaining one of the top majors in the country, our applicant pool has grown * We're also seeing more inductees in masters and Ph.D. programs * Our current members are taking greater advantage of the benefits offered to them * Our current members take great pride in their affiliation by purchasing more than one item of regalia. Instead of just an honor cord or stole, they seem to purchase both. - mkt

holding steady - nscs

The trend is increasing slightly. This matches the general trend of increasing student enrollment in chemical engineering that we see nationally. - oce

Increased growth - pat

Membership is declining over the past decade. - ps

During the 2009-2009 school year, we had an increase of about 5% over the preceding year. This reversed a several year decline from our peak year of 2004-2005 and was our fourth best year. However, membership has held fairly steady over the past three years. - pst

Decrease from previous year - puo

Membership trends are consistent in that inductions are held mostly during the months of March through June inducting students before they graduate from college. There are some inductions that take place in the fall of the year, but most are done in the spring. There is an increase of students wanting to be a member of Pi Alpha Alpha. Because of the interest of students, we have had several of our member institutions that did not have a Pi Alpha Alpha chapter on their campus to establish one. - paa

There were fewer initiations last year, undoubtedly owing to low morale in colleges and universities, where students and academic programs are feeling financially pressed. We did have a very healthy response to our call for applications for our three summer scholarships in France - 18 applications. This is an opportunity that we sponsor and almost entirely fund, but the keen interest demonstrated by the number of applications is heartening. We saw, too, a steep rise in the amount of honor cords purchased last year - ca. 800, a sign that students value their associations with Pi Delta Phi. - pdp

Membership trends are declining as business education programs are closed at universities around the United States. - pop

Significant falloff in last academic year (2008-09). We will watch closely throughout this one. - psa

Our membership enrollment continues to fluctuate in these economically turbulent times. - pte

Remaining flat. - pb

leveling off after several years of significant growth - pc

Increase of 13% over last academic year's total inductees. - sbd

We do not see any increase in our annual membership, it should stay around 325 - 350 new members per year. - sla

Increased some - slc

Currently stable after a trough We have seen a few chapters provide up to five years of late membership materials, so there has been an added boost to our Grand Total membership (estimated). - sps

We continue to grow each year both in chapters and membership. - std

Overall active membership remains steady, retention rates have declined slightly - stt

Trend of alumni members requesting active status continues; digitization of membership records has been completed so we can henceforth track more accurately. - tak

Slight increase from 2008. - upe
